artist Rae explains her paintings to the audience
A few weeks ago Rae Vavra, a mixed media artist from Los Angeles (USA), exhibited a selection of her art show ‘From my view this is it!’ in the office/classroom of Soul Surf Project Bali. Together with Rae the orphans of orphanage ‘Beni Haripan’ made paintings in the same style (mixing paint with collage) during one of her artclasses. They were inspired by the nature and beauty of Bali and not surprisingly many of them were inspired by surfing as well! On this evening these paintings were sold in an auction. The efforts of these paintings were donated to the little artists of the orphanage. Also a few paintings of Rae were sold by auction. On top of this Rae donated 25% of the effort of the sold paintings to the foundation. For those who missed the show and still want to take a look in our office; the exhibition will be here until the end of January.
The office is open on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 – 14:00. There is also an opportunity on Thursday evening the 21st of January, from 18:00 – 21:00.
Many thanks to Bali Mystique Hotel for providing the drinks/food during the opening of the art show and to Quiksilver for letting us use the tents. |

Soul surf project Bali wants equal chances for all children living on our planet. Children are the new generation! Soul surf project Bali gives knowledge to Bali orphans about environmental care by their own developed educational material. beach clean ups, yoga lessons, art lessons and on top of that five free surf lessons. With surfing we have a method which is helping us to protect the coast and its environment! Surfing will be given as a reward for growing awareness and knowledge and a new attitude. While surfing those kids are in the elements of Mother Nature, by being in those elements they will learn to appreciate it!
